Dr. Crawford

Hi! I'm Dr. Emily Crawford, and I'm excited to be part of the East Hills Veterinary team. I'm a native Ohioan, originally from the Cleveland area. I grew up with family dogs that I loved dearly. Over time, my twin sister and I slowly convinced my parents to add more animals to our family, starting with pygmy goats and 4-H lambs, and finally our dream animal: horses. I loved every minute spent feeding, caring for, and spending time with our animals. I was especially interested whenever we took our dogs to the veterinarian or our veterinarians came out to care for our farm animals. I was intrigued by all aspects of veterinary medicine and would watch and help with anything I could.

This passion led me to a Pre-Veterinary Animal Science degree at the University of Findlay, where I also met my wonderful husband. After college, I attended Iowa State University for veterinary school and joined every club, event, and attended every learning opportunity that I could. I enjoyed every aspect of my learning, but was especially drawn to the equine field, so I pursued a specialty internship at Wisconsin Equine Hospital. That year, I learned from surgery, internal medicine, and emergency and critical care specialists, as well as many seasoned field veterinarians. I became very familiar with advanced imaging, including MRI and CT, and honed my ultrasound techniques. I gained broad experience in routine and emergency surgery, critical hospital care, sports medicine, and routine and emergency field service. I also developed a love for meeting clients, building connections, and helping them care for the animals that are such an important part of their families.

After my internship, I returned home to Ohio and joined a wonderful team to continue working with horses. Before long, I realized how much I missed companion animal medicine and the pets that are such an important part of so many families. When the opportunity to join East Hills came along, I jumped at the chance to pursue both of my passions: working with horses and caring for pets.

My areas of interest include wellness care, internal medicine, and imaging. My favorite parts of my job are building connections with owners and their pets, and helping owners learn how to best care for their pets.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our Corgi Wyatt, our Husky mix Zelda, my friends, and our church family. I love baking sourdough, gardening, running, hiking, and exploring new places and local restaurants.

I'm grateful to join a team committed to providing the best care for every pet, knowing that care looks different for every animal and every family.
